khajuri achaar (dates pickle)

Ingredients
  • 500 gms dates (khajur)
  • 2 tbsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 4 tsp tamarind (imli) juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup jaggery (gur)
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper powder
  • black salt (sanchal) to taste

Recipe 
  1.    Cut the dates into a medium pieces and keep aside.
  2.     Heat a pan, add the jaggery and boil til jaggery melts well.
  3.     Add the dates and mix well.
  4.     Add the sugar, mix well and cook for 6 minutes.
  5.     Add the tamarind juice, pepper, black salt and mix well.
  6.     Serve hot or at room temperature.
  7.     Store refrigerated.
